Sapia.ai is genuinely different from most of what's out there. The Chat Interview is a text conversation. Sapia's own candidate guide says there is no video recording, so there's no camera to set up and no voice to worry about.
That doesn't make it easier, it just makes the preparation different.

What Sapia.ai actually is
Sapia.ai, formerly known as PredictiveHire, runs what it calls a Chat Interview, described in its candidate guide as a text based interview and assessment. Sapia says every candidate is assessed on the same set of attributes, drawn from their responses.
One thing worth knowing: the Chat Interview itself has no video recording, but Sapia's employer-facing platform page also describes video or final interviews as a later step an employer can choose to run. What you get depends on the employer.
On fairness, Sapia's CEO Barb Hyman told Unite.AI in an interview published October 7, 2026 that Sapia does not train on CVs, photos, names or universities, and that it tests continuously for adverse impact across protected characteristics. Sapia also lists an independent bias audit on its site. These are Sapia's own statements, not something Plumlo has tested.
Where you're likely to run into it
Sapia.ai is especially common in high-volume hiring, retail and contact centers in particular, where employers need to screen large numbers of applicants quickly and consistently. It often shows up as the very first step after applying, sometimes before you've spoken to anyone at all. It runs on smartphones, tablets and computers, so you choose where to do it.
It is also spreading beyond retail. On October 14, 2026, IT Brief Asia reported that UAE telecom du is using Sapia.ai chat interviews for both corporate and frontline roles. If you're applying to du, expect the format described here: a written chat, not a call.
What Sapia.ai says it is assessing
Everything comes down to what you write. Sapia's platform page says text responses are used to assess soft skills, behavior traits and overall cognitive ability. Its candidate guide does not list the exact attributes, and the scoring model itself is not published, so treat any claim about a specific weighting with suspicion.
What Hyman did say about scoring is that Sapia uses deterministic systems so results are consistent and traceable: "the same answer should get the same assessment."
Because there's no tone of voice or body language to soften a vague answer, what you type carries the whole response. A specific, concrete example reads clearly on the page in a way it might not need to if you were saying it out loud with the right delivery.
The practical details, from Sapia's guide
Sapia tells candidates to allow 20 to 30 minutes. The Chat Interview is not timed, and if you can't finish, your answers are saved and you can come back. You can also edit an earlier answer. Sapia's tips suggest aiming for roughly 50 to 100 words per question, choosing a quiet place, and checking your spelling and grammar before you submit each response. Supported browsers are Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox.
Sapia's platform page says the chat interview is offered in nine languages: English, Spanish, French, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, German, Italian and Swedish. It does not say whether every language is validated equally. The guide does not mention retakes, so ask the employer if you need one.
Five things to do before your Sapia.ai interview
1. Practice writing your answers, not just saying them
This is the one real adjustment from every other AI interview format. Since you'll be typing, not speaking, rehearsing your answers out loud only gets you partway there. Try actually writing out how you'd answer a few likely questions beforehand.
2. Be specific, since tone can't do any of the work
A vague written answer has nothing else to lean on, no warmth in your voice, no confident delivery. Pick real situations and say what you did and what happened. Sapia says examples from school, family, friendships and hobbies count, not only work.
3. Aim for 50 to 100 words, not a wall of text
Sapia's own tips suggest roughly 50 to 100 words per question. Length isn't the goal, clarity is: a short, specific, well-structured answer covers the same ground as a long, meandering one.
4. Pick a device and a quiet block of time
It works on a phone, tablet or computer, and it isn't timed. Allow 20 to 30 minutes somewhere quiet, and use whichever device lets you type most comfortably.
